Kanha Kiangsiri was a prominent writer who published under several pen names, most notably K. Surangkanang. She began her literary career in 1930 while still a high school student, publishing her first short story, Malinee, in the Daily Mail Monday.

Her most celebrated work is the novel Baan Sai Thong, which has been adapted numerous times for stage, television, and film, making it one of the most frequently remade stories in Thai history. The novel was groundbreaking for its era because it focused on the complexities of life after marriage, breaking away from the traditional "happily ever after" endings common in contemporary literature.

Kanha Kiangsiri passed away from natural causes on June 23, 1999, at the age of 88.
