The cold and humid weather during the rainy season is one of the reasons why many diseases spread readily and fast, as are temperature variations that make it difficult for the body to adapt, particularly in kids and the elderly.
Communicable diseases and dangers that frequently occur during the rainy season are classified into four categories: infectious diseases of the respiratory system, infectious diseases carried by mosquitos, infectious diseases transmitted through water and food, other infectious diseases, and health hazards that are not diseases.
Diseases that are common during this time of year include influenza and pneumonia, dengue fever, malaria, chikungunya, Zika virus, cholera, hepatitis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and leptospirosis. Other health risks include venomous animals, traffic accidents, and lightning.
Exercise regularly during the rainy season, wear warm clothing, drink clean water, eat freshly cooked meals, wash your hands before eating. Maintain a clean living environment consistently to prevent the spread of illness. Avoid sheltering under large trees during thunderstorms.
