Coins have been used for settlement purposes in Thailand since 1860, their size and design have altered over time.
Coins are classified into 3 types: circulation coins used in everyday life, commemorative coins produced for significant events, and commemorative medals that cannot be used to pay obligations but are valuable to collectors.
There are 9 different types of circulating coins in use today, although only six are used in the market: 10 baht, 5 baht, 2 baht, 1 baht, 50 satang, and 25 satang. The 10 satang, 5 satang, and 1 satang coins are only used for accounting.
