Prapassorn Sevagul
leveraged his experience in the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and his time in
various foreign embassies to write
novels and short stories. By setting his
works in places unfamiliar to Thai
audiences, he created a sense of novelty
for his readers. Examples include the
desert landscapes and Arab culture in
Sheik, and the culture of the Himalayan
region in Himalayan.
Hiss social
effect writings, like Amnart, Wela Nai
Khuat Kaeoe, and Lod Lai Mangkorn, are
also very popular.
After being named a
National Artist in Literature in 2011,
he passed away from heart failure in
2015 at 67 years old. His final work was
a collection of novels inspired by ASEAN
neighbors, though he was only able to
complete the first six volumes before
his death, leaving the seventh
unfinished.
