Following Ok Phansa (October 26, 2026), the annual Kathina Robe Offering Festival commences across Thailand. Kathina is a restricted seasonal offering (Kala-Dana) that requires a minimum residency of five monks who have completed the Vassa retreat. Each monastery may receive Kathina only once annually within the designated one-month window.

Conversely, the Pha Pa (Forest Robe) tradition derived from early Buddhist practices where monks reclaimed discarded rags. Pha Pa can be conducted indefinitely throughout the year. In contemporary Thai society, Pha Pa has evolved into a vital social charity mechanism, channeling community goodwill toward public welfare initiatives, including educational endowments and hospital equipment acquisitions.
