This research was exploratory, quantitative and qualitative research. The objectives of this research were to survey bird species, feeding behavior, status, abundance and activities in utilization of birds in research area. The data from the study was used as a guideline for environment protection and conservation species diversity of birds and promotion eco-tourism.
The data was carried out by field survey about species diversity and activities of birds foraged in 3 touring boat routes in Klong Kone sub-district, Muang district, Samut Songkhram province from August 2013 – July 2014 and analyzed the data to find out abundance of birds. The result of the survey of bird species in 3 routes found that there were 35 families and 73 species of birds. In Route 1 (Klong Kone Mangrove Conservation Center – Mouth of Klong Kone), 95 species of bird were found the most. According to bird status, 42 resident birds, 11 resident and migratory birds and 20 migratory birds were found. According to bird abundance, 16 species of birds were in level 5 of bird abundance. It was 21.91 percent of all birds. The activities of birds in foraging in the research area were insectivorous birds, predator and piscivorous birds, granivorous birds, nectarivorous birds, and aquatic, benthic invertebrate birds.
So encouragement the community to conserve mangrove forest, maintain the balance of ecosystem, apply local knowledge to local fishery to make the high profit and reduce the production cost by considering customer’s safety including with maintaining natural resources and biodiversity. Local fishery emphasized on conservation, restoring biodiversity because the birds were value to the environment in pollination, seed dispersing, pest controlling and indicator of natural balance in local ecosystem.
