Previously, the
location of buildings and activities in
the ancient city of Suvarnabhumi was
primarily determined by religious
beliefs, and spatial science was not
fully utilized in urban planning. Until
King Rama IV's reign, Thailand had
contact with the West and received
modernity. Western-style urban
development took place, but only the
areas that needed to be developed were
planned. There is no idea of
standardized planning at the city level.
In 1928, a "Committee to Consider
the Bangkok Plan Project" was
formed in an attempt to plan a
comprehensive plan for the entire city
using international urban planning
principles as guidelines. The meeting
discussed and established guidelines for
doing so. The "Phra Nakhon Plan
1928" was created for the first
time in Thai history. Even though the
discussions' outcomes will not be
pursued further, they are regarded as an
important step in Thailand's
international urban planning. After
that, the Town and Country Planning Act
of 1952 was enacted, which was the first
town planning law in
Thailand. The book " Phra Nakhon Plan 1928" has content that presents a report on the Bangkok Plan of 1928, which was overseen by the Cabinet of Ministers.
