Labor Day, also known as May Day, takes place in memory of the fight for the rights and welfare of workers around the world and to inform the general public about the importance of labor in driving the national economy.
National Labor Day has been discussed in Thailand since 1932, but it was only recently designated as a holiday (which is not a public holiday) in 1974.
On National Labor Day, various labor unions will march to demand improvements to labor law and wages, reflecting the problems of labor to society.
