Mardi Gras is an important New Orleans festival. It takes place on the Tuesday before “Ash Wednesday”. Fat Tuesday This is the day when Christians begin to fast. This fasting will last until Easter (which corresponds to Sunday). Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”. Because it was the day when people would eat meat and fat food. It is the last day before the start of the fast.

Today, the New Orleans Mardi Gras is a festive celebration that attracts visitors from around the world. Clubs in the city, known as “Krewe”, send lavish parades and mask dances weeks before the event. It's fun to throw beads from the parade to the spectators along the way. Each parade will feature a masked king and queen who will not be revealed until after the party.

There are 3 colors for the Mardi Gras festival:

Purple means justice.

Green means faith.

Gold means power.

This year's Mardi Gras also falls on today, Tuesday March 1, 2022.
