        World wildlife and wild plants day was established by the resolution of the 16th CITES meeting held in Bangkok. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

        The 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, USA, has recognized and proclaimed March 3 of each year as World Wildlife Day, in order to raise awareness of the conservation of wildlife and plant resources around the world for the benefit of mankind.

        The theme for World Wildlife and Flora Day 2022 is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”, or ecosystem restoration with a strong focus on conservation of endangered wildlife and flora.

        Popular activities on World Wildlife and Flora Day include the Stop Buying Campaign, Stop Killing, Against the online and all forms of illegal trading of wildlife products, including unsustainable consumption such as shark fin menu.
