The BBC Sound Effects
Archive is a remarkable and extensive
collection of high-quality sound
samples. It comprises over 33,000 sound
effects that have been gathered from all
corners of the world over the past
century. This vast archive includes both
BBC studio recordings and field
recordings.
The original collection
was housed on vinyl, before being
replaced by quarter-inch tape, and then
CD, eventually moving onto a digital
base.
The collection truly
has a worldwide range of subjects,
natural atmospheres, tribal chants and
music.
The BBC Sound Effects
Archive is available for personal,
educational or research purposes. This
excludes political, pornographic,
tobacco, and weapons-related
applications. Please credit the
BBC.
