The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, was observed after the American Revolutionary War (Revolutionary War), when representatives from 13 British colonial states signed the official declaration of independence from the British Empire. Today has become a national American holiday and is celebrated with a parade, family gatherings, a BBQ party, and a show of fireworks.

It is estimated that on this day, Americans consumed 150 million hot dogs and set off more than 14,000 fireworks.
