His Majesty King Ananda
Mahidol Phra Attharamathibodinthorn is
the son of Somdej Phra Mahitalathibet
Adulyadej Vikram and Her Royal Highness
Princess Maha Chakri
Sirindhorn.
His Majesty King Ananda
Mahidol was born on September 20, 1925,
ascended the throne as the 8th monarch
of the Chakri dynasty and the first
monarch after the change of government
while he was 9 years old with a regent
to administer the state affairs until
reaching the age of majority. At that
time he lived and studied in Lausanne,
Switzerland. Throughout his reign, he
had returned to Thailand only
twice.
During the reign, His
Majesty King Ananda Mahidol has
performed royal duties including royal
ceremonies, government ceremonies,
religious and graduation ceremonies,
visiting hospitals, military units,
important places, and initiated the
tradition of visiting rural
people.
His Majesty King Ananda
Mahidol, His Highness passed away by a
gun on June 9, 1946, in the bedroom, at
the Boromphiman Throne Hall, the Grand
Palace Reign: 11 years, 99 days, age
19.
