His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol was born on September 20, 1925, as the eldest son of Prince Mahidol Adulyadej of Songkla and Mom Sangwan (later Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother).
On March 2, 1935, at the age of nine, King Ananda Mahidol ascended to the throne as the eighth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. He holds the distinction of being the first king to reign following the Siamese Revolution of 1932.
Tragically, on June 9, 1946, King
Ananda Mahidol passed away from a
gunshot wound sustained in his
bedchamber within the Grand Palace. He
was 20 years old at the time of his
death and had reigned for 11 years and
99 days.
