Rivendell is a fantasy
setting from the famous novel
“Lord of the Rings” by J R R
Tolkien's. Rivendell in the novel is
a valley in the world of Middle-earth.
This is a warm place like home and the
magical world of the elven race, also
representing a holy place. It is
important in many episodes in both The
Hobbit and The Lord of the
Rings.
Rivendell's origins in
Tolkien's imagination come from the
Lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland, but
all Lord of the Rings productions used
Kaitoke Regional Park in New Zealand as
a set in conjunction with computer
graphics.
Buildings, walkways, structures
used as a scene were dismantled after
filming. Some locations have been
simulated to make it easier for visitors
to visualize the fantasy from the movie.
There are signs and the location of
various scenes as well as providing
guided tours themed on Lord of the
Rings.
