The Dragon Boat Festival,
one of China's four most important
traditional festivals, alongside Chinese
New Year, Qingming, and the Mid-Autumn
Festival, is a day dedicated to the
dragon god.
The Zongzi is one of the
festival's most memorable
delicacies. Zongzi is made by wrapping
sticky rice, pork, and other grains in
bamboo leaves and steam- or grill-baking
them. Zongzi was one of the first picnic
dishes in history.
In Thailand, Zongzi
is prepared specifically for worship and
sharing. There will be no dragon boat
competition today. In Taiwan and Hong
Kong, dragon boat races are still
held.
