The National Library of
Thailand began as a library in the Grand
Palace before being dedicated as a
public library by King Rama V. The
designation was later changed to
National Library and relocated to the
Tha Wasukri area, Samsen Road, where it
is now located.
According to the Printing
Registration Act of 2007, all
publications published in the Kingdom
must include two printed editions sent
to the National Library for
preservation. As a result, the National
Library houses the country's largest
collection of printed knowledge, apart
from ancient documents, rare books,
audiovisual recording materials, and
digital resources.
