The British Library collects and provides all printed material published in the United Kingdom, books, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, stamps, patents, maps, paintings, prints, plays, and sound recordings. Nowadays, there are over 200 million items of various kinds of information media, and more than 10,000 items are added daily.
The British Library's reading rooms are free to the public, as are study tours, exhibition visits, and the cafe.
