The Maha Songkran Day, marking the commencement of the traditional Thai New Year, falls on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:34:35 AM Thailand Standard Time. According to the lunar calendar, this significant transition occurs on the 12th day of the waning moon in the 5th month of the Year of the Horse.
The Songkran Goddess of this year is named Nang Rakshasa Devi, who is adorned with an exquisite armband and a sacred Lotus flower tucked behind her ear. Her attire is embellished with the precious Agate gemstone, and her traditional sustenance is identified as blood. In her right hand, she wields a trident (Trishula), while her left hand holds a bow. She makes her grand appearance standing majestically upon the back of a boar, which serves as her celestial vehicle.
