After the loss of children and husband, suddenly, Sarah Winchester believes that a family disaster has to do with her husband's invention of the Winchester rifle. Which has become a weapon that kills many people. These spirits followed and harassed her and her family.

Sarah moved from Connecticut to San Jose, California, and began building a house. Construction went on non-stop for 38 years until the last day of her life.

She believes that construction always changes the shape of the house, help those spirits cannot find her. Also she had to constantly move the bedroom every night too.

The post-construction Winchester house consisted of 160 rooms, 2,000 doors, 10,000 windows, 47 fireplaces, 17 chimneys, 40 staircases, 52 light bays, 2 basements, 13 bathrooms, 6 kitchens, and 1 bell tower.

There are strange mechanisms throughout the house, such as a locked entrance door. Stairs leading to a dead end, an open door meets a wall. An open second floor door can fall into the ground if you're not careful.

The Winchester House became an architectural wonder, yet still meticulously beautiful. This Victorian-style building is recognized as a California Historical Heritage Site. It is opened to the public to visit. It now has more than 12 million visitors.

The mystery of the Winchester House has also been made into movies and plays, including themed rides in Disney Parks.
