Storing books in the library controlled by the classified system called Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). It is arranging books with the same or similar content in the same place and mark them for ease of searching.
For books in classification 400 of the DDC is a group of languages. The classification is divided into 10 sub-categories to identify more specific places to store books, including:
• 400 Generalities
• 410 Linguistics
• 420 English & Old English
• 430 Germanic languages German
• 440 Romance languages French
• 450 Italian, Romanian languages
• 460 Spanish & Portuguese languages
• 470 ltalic languages, Latin
• 480 Hellenic languages, Classical Greek
• 490 Other languages eg. East Indo-European & Celtic languages, Afro-Asiatic languages, Non-Semitic, Afro-Asiatic languages, Languages of East & Southeast Asia, African languages, Local language
All of the 400 collections are available on an open shelf where users can pick up the books themselves, locate His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Building (Chalermprakiet Building). Except for language dictionaries, which are assigned as a reference book on the 1st floor of the same building. This reference book is only permitted in the library. The books in this category have a yellow tape as a symbol on the spine of the book.
