The Library of
Congress serves as the United
States' national library. It began
with the storage of congressional
documents in 1800 and has since grown to
add all types of materials for learning.
There are currently over 20 million
resources available, including books,
journals, maps, CDs, manuscripts,
pictures, sound recordings, electronic
media, and other items. This is
estimated that over 7,000 items are
added to the collection each day, making
Library of Congress the world's
biggest library with the largest
collection of material.
