John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr., was an American novelist and short-story writer. Steinbeck's writing demonstrates his conviction in humanity. Despite their evil and destruction, humans are the only thing capable of restoring the ideals of humanity.
The Grapes of Wrath, one of Steinbeck's most well-known works, relates the story of a migration from drought-stricken Oklahoma to California. The Grapes of Wrath depicts the misery of immigrant workers and has become a twentieth-century classic, earning him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962.
