Alfred Hitchcock
(13 August 1899 - 29 April 1980) was a
British film director who was known as
the king of Hollywood thrillers from the
1940s to 1970s.
Hitchcock made over 50 films
during his 40-year career and was
nominated for five Academy Awards, but
he never won any of them, with the
exception of the Life Achievement Award
in 1979.
Hitchcock's most famous
works are Psycho (1960), Vertigo (1958),
and The Birds (1963).
