Every year, the
Hungry Ghost Festival in China is held
on the 15th day of the waxing moon of
the 7th lunar month. It is one of the
three major merit-making festivals of
the year in which Chinese people and
people of Chinese descent hold a
ceremony to honor their ancestors.
Unlike the Ching Meng ceremony, which is
held at a cemetery, this ceremony is
held at home.
On this day, in addition to
having a table to worship, you must also
stop working, stop trading, avoid
holding auspicious events, especially
weddings, avoid moving house, and avoid
traveling at night, which is believed to
bring bad luck throughout the
year.
